In Port Royal, Nova Scotia, there is a plaque that honours Mathieu Da Costa and his significance to Black history in Canada. In the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, a heritage trail is named after Da Costa. Yet there is much that we still don’t know about this important man.
