Diversity in Black Communities: Language and Hair Politics

When it comes to language and hair in the Black Canadian population, opinions differ and conflicts arise. What is the impact of Caribbean nation and African continental languages on the Black Canadian vernacular? What is code switching? Are natural styles like dreadlocks professional? A knowledge of the history of these two important topics will heighten understanding. This revealing presentation using real life anecdotes and videos can be offered as one covering both topics or, if requested, each topic can be covered in two separate offerings and can be tailored for either students or educators.
