Black Boys Love Math!
Stereotypes and biases have led, in some instances, educators and Black boys to believe that they are not capable of achieving at the same level as their peers where mathematics is concerned. Nothing could be further from the truth! By highlighting the history and development of mathematics as a discipline in Africa, case studies of Black men who have and are currently impacting the world through mathematical innovation, and exploring the concept of storytelling to heighten engagement and achievement where mathematical study is concerned, this workshop will show that Black boys can, and do love math!
